Our live semester format is a great option for families looking to mirror a traditional high school experience at home. Live courses are single-semester offerings that include 16 live Zoom classes, with weekly homework assignments due on Saturday mornings. Each semester is divided into two 8-week terms, and a separate grade will be reported for each term on student transcripts. Please note that not all courses are offered live. If your student is seeking graduation, some courses are only offered via “MyPace”.

Courses start in August or January.

  • Cost per Credit for MyPace & Diploma Seeking:

    Courses have a base cost of $329 for .5 credits, with an additional cost of $11 for Math and $49 for Science.

    Diploma Seeking “Full Load”

    Depending on the courses and mentoring, the cost for 7 courses will be approximately $2135.50 per semester, plus a one-time fee of $200 for the grad pack for credit seeking students. (Now we only need 6.50 credits; 25 credits total needed graduate now. Last year it was 27.5!) Year total: $4,477 plus licensing fees ($11 for math and $49 for science.) For non-credit seeking students the cost will be between $643.50 and $773.50 per semester depending on the courses.

  • New students must sign a commitment to our Honor Code and meet with an admissions staff member.

  • HS Online diploma-seeking students must:

    1. Purchase the Graduation Package yearly ($200) in 9-12 grade.

    2. Take at least 25% of all courses required for graduation through an AHS campus.

    3. Take at least 3 two-semester courses with AHS Online during their Senior year.

    4. Complete/pass 25 credit hours before the graduation date.

    5. Complete the following required courses at AHS Online: Constitutional Studies, Principles of Leadership, Senior Thesis, and Experiential Learning.

AHS Online (9-12) Course Catalog

American Heritage Online High School offers a broad course selection for students that combines academic rigor with Christian character, transformational scholarship, and patriotic values. All AHS Online courses are currently hosted on the Canvas platform. Courses are purchased one semester at a time. Year-long courses are designated by Semester A and B. Semesters begin in August and January of each year.

Students who wish to participate in live Zoom classes with the rest of the student body should follow the recommended 4-year plan. Students of all grades move through their courses together as a cohort.

    Inspired by Moses 2:26, this course emphasizes ourresponsibility to understand life and God's creations. Students will learn to make informed decisions about environmental and social impacts of modern biological science and related policies,recognizing the importance of stewardship over all living things.

  • Chemistry

    In this course, students will learn about elements, chemical interactions, equations, and reactions through lectures, experiments, labs, and projects. They will explore models of matter, how science improves ourlives, and demonstrate understanding by maintaining notebooks, lab books, and completing word studies.

    High School physics covers topics like mechanics, matter, heat transfer, electromagnetism, light, and relativity through hands-on, practical learning. We recognize God's handiwork in the natural world and conclude each term with a project. Basic algebra skills are essential for success in this course.

AHS Life (Required Courses)

  • Financial Literacy

    In this course, students will learn to be wise stewards of the material blessings the Lord provides by gaining a solid understanding of financial principles and learning to apply them to a gospel-centered life. Course material and content include best practices for sound financial management and counsel of the prophets, apostles, and other church leaders. The primary method of instruction will be through reading materials. Specific topics include, but are not limited to, budgeting, goal setting, cash management, credit, loans, debt, and much more. Students will demonstrate their understanding through the 4-Rs (research, reason, relate, and record) methodology through realistic assignments, short papers, quizzes, and a final exam. For many students, the most challenging part of the class is to create and apply a realistic budget. The principles learned in this course can be of value every day of their lives as they understand how to apply sound financial principles.

  • Business Technology

    In this course, students will learn computer technology skills and their application from a gospel-centered perspective. These skills include efficient retrieval of information from Internet resources;, mastery of personal productivity and communication tools, and content evaluation for quality and gospel harmony. Skills will be developed using the Internet, Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), Google Docs, operating system file management, and email. The primary methods of instruction will include research, in-depth functionality training, and tutorials. Students will be given opportunities to relate and apply their acquired skills in course assignments and projects. Students will make application of these skills throughout their life in continued education, work, and Church service.

  • Principles of Leadership

    The central theme of the Principles of Leadership course is “Inside-Out Leadership,” as it relates to the power of living and leading from the inside (internally and privately) to the outside (externally and publicly).

    The primary text is The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, by Stephen R. Covey. Units of study also include advocacy, negotiation, and avoiding and overcoming addictive behaviors. Various biographies of male and female leaders from different disciplines will be introduced and studied during the course. In addition, students participate in simulations, service, and field learning activities to apply leadership principles and learn from mentor leaders in the community.

  • Family Science

    This class is based on principles from “The Family: A Proclamation to the World,” emphasizing the importance of the natural family—marriage between a man and woman. Topics include communication, conflict resolution, financial management, dating, college and career planning, gender roles, and human development. All lesson plans, including those on sexuality and gender roles, are available to parents.
